About the author

Hi. My name is Katherine Olson and I am an MD/PhD student at the University of Arizona. I am part of the inaugural class at the UA College of Medicine - Phoenix campus located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. I’m also pursuing a PhD in the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Genetics.

My interest with genetics first began because of my oldest brother, Charlie, who was born with Down Syndrome. From the moment that I first understood what causes Down Syndrome, I have been fascinated with genetics.

I sincerely believe that the future of medicine belongs to genetics, which is one of the reasons I’ve started this website. Everyone should be able to read and understand genetics, even if you have never taken a course on genetics.
